NEW YORK (AP) - Meb Keflezighi has become the first American man to win the New York City Marathon since 1982.
Keflezighi, the 2004 Olympic silver medalist, earned his first major marathon title Sunday. Born in Eritrea, the 34-year-old became a U.S. citizen in 1998.
He was second in New York in 2004 and third in 2005. Keflezighi, wearing "USA on his chest, won in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 15 seconds.
I ran NYC in 1999 and it was a great race. Lot's of fun and tons of international runners. Truly lives up to the motto of "where the world runs". I LOVE NEW YORK!

More inspiration for the many training miles ahead, and the much anticipated Columbus Marathon: My newest running shoe, Brooks Trance 9; got them at a great price at Columbus Running Company and from a little help from mom. Thanks Mom!
On my premier Brooks run (the 5.1 mile store loop), Nathan drove by and gave a shout out: "Faster, Jim!" Thanks, Nathan!

NFL's Philadelphia Eagles , with two Super Bowl appearances, and one NFL Championship title, will kick off the season on Sept 13 at 1 pm against Carolina Panthers (Super Bowl XXXVIII runner up). The Eagles roster includes some Big 10'ers such as former Ohio State's Matt Wilhelm, but his stats are presently zero. Also starting at zero is Michael Vick who recently joined the roster.

Football fever is on in the Big 10 region. I still find time to do my training and check out the games. Juan and I have been getting up early to run. Getting ready for Columbus Marathon on Oct 18, 2009.

Good day, friendly volunteers and lots of admenities for a good race entry fee. The course was hilly in places, hard to get too fast of a groove, but hey is was in West Virginia, so to be expected! Would definately recommend and return.
